Cordoba Airport
Córdoba Airport is situated six kilometres from the city centre and is classified as a third category airport. In aeronautical terms, it is an aerodrome open to national traffic and international traffic from Schengen Pact countries and provides no ATS (Air Navigation control) services. At present it is used for agricultural treatment companies, transfers of organs to and from the transplant centre at the Reina Sofía hospital, military flights, charter passenger flights, aerial photography, flying courses, parachuting schools and other types of aerial work.
The airport has a single runway, 1,380 by 45 metres, and an apron measuring 31,022 square metres. The passenger terminal is situated on the ground floor of the main building and comprises departures and arrivals halls, cafeterias, services and offices. The airport also has a service building and a specific area for general aviation with hangars, warehouses and offices.
The existing traffic at Córdoba Airport is predominantly general aviation flights. In 2003 it handled 16,804 passengers, with a marked concentration in the summer months. Córdoba Airport is amongst the top five Spanish airports that have experienced the greatest proportional growth in recent years in terms of passenger numbers. Aircraft movements totalled 8,094 operations, of which only 7,8 per cent were related to commercial aviation.
