Additional Information: Erfurt Airport, situated in the heart of Germany, started its revival in 1992. Since then efforts have successfully been made to transform the airport into a modern facility according to international standards. This includes the construction of a new tower, a new passenger terminal, additional parking lots, taxiways, and apron areas. The new modern terminal with 2 passenger boarding bridges has an annual capacity of more than 800,000 passengers.
Besides construction works, the main emphasis has been put on the modernisation of the airport equipment. Today modern handling equipment for all handling sectors e.g aircraft handling and freight handling is available at Erfurt Airport.
The airport is now linked to the newly constructed A71 motorway, which is only a few minutes away. To handle extra cargo load there are additional bonded warehouses and administration buildings are planned for construction.
