Genoa Airport
The "C. Colombo" airport is very much a part of the urban and production fabric of Genoa. It is situated on a manmade peninsula, constructed within the precincts of the Port of Genoa, about 6 km from the heart of the City. It lies between the Eastern and Western Rivieras and is very close to the lower reaches of Piedmont. The airport is directly linked to the city's road system and the motorway network, making it quick and easy to reach the Rivieras, Piedmont, Lombardy, and parts of the Alps. Some of the major cities, easily reachable from this access point to the motorway, are : Nice (210 km), Sanremo (140 km), Turin (170 km), Milan (140 km), la Spezia (105 km), and Florence (225 km). The length of the runway (3,025 metres), its careful orientation to allow for the prevailing winds, wide space for taxiing, and a spacious apron, along with extensive radio assistance and visual aids on the ground, make the airport in Genoa very versatile, allowing any aircraft to stop off in complete safety. Besides the passenger terminal, Genoa airport has many other buildings (cargo terminal, aircraft hangars, and buildings to house the following services: catering, maintenance workshops, car hire, fuel supplies, Fire Department, Customs and Excise, Police and air conditioning), all of which can be provided upon request.
