Airport Facts
The airport was originally built for the 1968 Winter Olympics - Rhône-Alpes has hosted the Games on three occasions, in Chamonix, Grenoble and Albertville. For a long time it was managed by the local authority. In December 2003 its management was entrusted to the Lyon Chamber of Commerce.
Then in January 2004 the Isère Departmental Council awarded a contract for the management and development of the airport to a privately owned joint venture set up specifically for the task: Société d'Exploitation de l'Aéroport de Grenoble (SEAG). This is the first contract of this importance for a regional airport in France. SEAG is a 50/50 joint venture held by two internationally renowned private partners, Kéolis and Vinci Airports.
SEAG immediately set up a marketing department, which set to work contacting airlines to attract additional regular and charter flights.
