The Kefalonia airport is situated in the area of Svoronata, 9 kilometres from Argostoli, capital of the island.

The transfer time between the airport and the capital is only a few minutes by car; but because of the large size of Kefalonia (it is the largest island of the Ionian Islands), some resorts or villages can be separated by a distance over 50 kilometres from the airport.

No public buses are available from or for the airport but cars can be rented there and taxis are waiting outside to serve the visitors. Many hotels and rooms (or apartments or studios) for rent propose the transfer to the airport by private mini buses.

Kefalonia International Airport was founded and functioned the year 1971.

It covers extent of 820,000 m2 of plain of current Municipality Leivathous and is found in distance 8 km from the capital of Prefecture, the ARGOSTOLI.
