Milan Linate International Airport

Basics
Linate is six miles (10 km) south of the center of Milan. There is a tourist information office in the central rail station. Both Linate and Malpensa airports can be accessed through the Milan airports' Web site, which offers the following:

  • Information on airport facilities
  • Flight arrival and departure information
  • Information on getting to the airport

Taxi
Taxi fare to the center will be about 24,000 to 28,000 lira ($13 to $15). Travel time will be 20 minutes, but up to 40 minutes during the morning peak travel hours.

Bus
SEAV buses leave for the Stazione Centrale every 20 to 30 minutes, from 6 A.M. to 11 P.M., but may be available at other times to meet arriving flights. The fare is about 3,000 lira ($2). There are taxis at the central station that you can take to your destination.

City Bus
City bus n.73 runs from the airport to downtown (Piazza San Babila, Underground Station), leaving every 10 minutes during the day. Tickets are 1,500 lira and can be purchased at newstands. Airport-friendly, this bus has luggage racks.

Rental Car
Avis, Sixt, Europcar, Hertz, and Maggiore-National are at the airport. Some have offices at the central rail station.

Airport Facts

Linate Airport is the city airport of Milan, Italy. Due to its vicinity to Milan, it is mainly used for domestic and short-haul international flights. Its name comes from the eponymous small town where it resides. Its real name is "Airport Enrico Forlanini", from the name of the Italian inventor and aereonautical pioneer born in Milan.

The other and larger airport serving Milano is Malpensa International Airport (IATA Airport Code MXP). Linate and Malpensa airports are connected by highways and by service buses.
