Pamplona International Airport
Over the last decade, Pamplona Airport has increased its traffic and the importance of its air space in Spain, now handling over 300,000 passengers. The construction of a new passenger terminal, inaugurated on 11 November 1992, and the extension of the urbanized area and car park have helped boost the growth of an airport which, over the next few years, will improve its infrastructures and activities to provide an all-round response to air traffic demands and the needs of its users.
The airport has one runway with a capacity for eleven operations per hour. At present there is no cargo terminal and merchandise is therefore loaded onto lorries for transportation to the aircraft stand on the apron. The passenger terminal is a single-story building comprising all the passenger services.
In 2003, the airport recorded a total of 312,787 passengers in the 9,744 aircraft movements made. The traffic is predominantly scheduled and domestic, and as a result little affected by seasonality. Figures are therefore similar all year round. Most of the traffic was related to Madrid-Barajas and Barcelona airport, 97% of the total, with Palma de Mallorca the third most represented destination.
