Airport Facts

Poznan Lawica Airport is one of the oldest local airports in Poland. It has been in regular operation since 1913 first as German military facility.

On the 6th of January 1919 during the uprising against the foreign rulers the militants took over the airport with around 250 military planes in service. That was the first time in the history of national uprisings when Poles had technical dominance on invaders. That fact contributed to the success of Wielkopolska Uprising to a large degree. If it hadn't been for brave deed of Wielkopolska Insurgents, Poles wouldn't have taken over the airport and perhaps the fate of the Wielkopolska Uprising would have carried on in a different way.

Today the Poznan-Lawica airport is a dynamically expanding business. There are several factors its attractiveness: favorable geographical position and high developed economy of the Wielkopolska region. The Poznan International Fairs and many joint ventures contribute to aggravation of air traffic.

The location of Poznan-Lawica Airport is very favorable. It is situated 7 km from the city center, near the main road coming to the most important points of the city: the center, the International Poznan Fair or the Main station, and close to the roads coming to Berlin and Warsaw.
