Airport Facts
The traffic at Seville Airport is essentially domestic. Its importance as a national airport is reflected in the fact that this type of traffic represents 78% of the total. Looking to the future, the assembly of the future A400M military transport plane by EADS-CASA in Seville will have significant repercussions on the airport's development.
The Seville airport operates during both the summer and winter seasons from 7:00am to 12:30am (local time), with the possibility of extending an additional three hours upon prior request.
It currently has one runway, called 09-27 (3,360 by 45 metres), with three exit taxiways and two accesses to the double departure point, in by-pass and parallel taxiing, with a capability of 28 operations per hour. There is an apron for 23 aircraft. The passenger / hour capacity is 1,900 for Schengen flights and 600 for non-Schengen flights for arrival operations; and 1,350 Schengen and 450 non-Schengen for departure operations.
The airport also has a passenger building with a total surface area of 62,000 square metres on three levels. It also has a terminal and a cargo zone, located to the west of the passenger terminal building, an industrial zone with the facilities occupied by the company EADS-CASA along with warehouses, workshops and a general aviation terminal.
The arrival of low-cost airlines (Brussels Airlines, Aer Lingus, Ryanair and Vueling) in 2005 is worth noting. This has brought about a variety of changes to the airport infrastructures, in addition to providing a notable stimulus to the air traffic demand.
A number of measures have been taken to face the traffic increase expected through 2015, with guaranteed safety and quality, such as the installation of a new carousel to classify baggage and an integrated system to run security checks on 100% of baggage in the hold.
