Tuscany Florence Airport

Pisa, in the heart of Italy's western region of Tuscany, is most famous for its leaning tower. The town is also known for its beautiful Romanesque architecture and stunning plazas, as well as food and good living.

Airport Transportation:

The airport is serviced by bus, train and taxi service. Buses depart from outside the airport terminal for the 15-minute trip to the town center, costing about €1. Train service to the town center is available, costing about €1. Taxis can be hailed outside the terminal, costing about €10.

Explore Pisa:

Visit the sights: Battistero, marble Baptistery with fine art exhibits; Camposanto (Cemetery) with fabulous frescos; Duomo, with its facade adorned with geometric and animal shapes is known for its famous pulpit, columned interior and Galileo's Lamp; and the famous Leaning Tower, leaning ever since it was built in the 12th century. Wander around the Piazza dei Cavalieri, a wonderful Renaissance plaza; Piazza dei Miracoli, one of the World's most dramatic and beautiful squares; or visit the L'Orto Botanico di Pisa, local botanical gardens. Explore the museums: Museo del'Opera del Duomo, the Cathedral's museum; and Museo Nazionale di San Matteo, housed in a former convent, exhibits Medieval art and sculpture. Finally, if you are here on 16th of June, enjoy the ambiance of Luminaria when candles light buildings in the old section of town and the town celebrates with evening fireworks.

Airport Facts

Check-in

At the Firenze SMN railway station you can check in for all flights departing from Pisa, Ryanair flights excluded, if you travel with hand baggage only. The Florence Air Terminal is located on platform 5 and is open every day from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm. You can also contact it by telephone at 055 216073.

Check-in for England
At the moment, as instructed by the competent authorities, passengers bound for England, or in transit through an English airport, must have their luggage checked in only at Galileo Galilei Airport.

Other services
At the Florence Air Terminal you can buy your railway and Terravision coach service tickets to Galileo Galilei Airport, inquire about any lost luggage in the Florence area, and obtain all the information you need about flights departing from and arriving at Pisa.

Flight information
If you need information on arrivals or departures, or on the services you can find at the Airport, please contact the information office located in the air terminal on the arrivals side.

The office is open every day from 8 am to 10 pm. The number to dial is 050 849300.

Other services
The information office also provides tourist information. It also functions as left luggage office, issues flight insurance policies, and sells telephone cards, bus tickets and train tickets to all national destinations.
