Airport Facts

Over recent years, Valencia airport has become an important business and tourist centre, helping the area's economic development.

At present it has two runways and an airfield with a declared capacity of 33 aircraft at peak times. For parking there is an apron for both passenger and cargo aircraft and for general aviation. The number of stands indicated holds 16 commercial aircraft.

The passenger terminal, inaugurated in 1983, deals with domestic and international traffic and includes extensive shopping areas for air transport users.

The traffic is mainly regular and domestic. Of the 3,112,090 commercial passenger registered in 2004, 1,895,450 were domestic and 1,205,180 international. Therefore, domestic traffic constitutes 60% of the total. Close to half of this traffic came to and from Madrid. Other domestic destinations of importance are Palma de Mallorca, Barcelona and Ibiza.

Ninety-five percent of international traffic comes from the European Union, with the United Kingdom, Germany, France and Italy in the lead. Amongst the non-European Union countries the most important are Switzerland, the Czech Republic and Tunisia.

General aviation is of great importance at Valencia airport. On a yearly basis, many private aircraft take off and land here and the air work related to agriculture is very important at the airport.

The Management of Valencia Airport, aware of the commitment it has to its clients as the users of the services and facilities of the airport, has established as its prime objective the satisfaction of their needs and expectations, by complying rigourously with all the legal and regulation requirements which apply to airport activities, as well as the essential infrastructure of air transport.
