Welcome to Glasgow
As the busiest city in Scotland, Glasgow is a center for industry and economy, but it's also a cultural playground waiting to be explored by tourists. In fact, the European Union designated Glasgow as the Capital of Culture in 1990, and it has continued to build on its fine arts, music and sports offerings since. Today, it's host to some of the continent's most exciting events, such as the Glasgow International Jazz Festival, Glasgow Film Festival and Glasgow International Comedy Festival. With hundreds of other cultural events every year, it's no surprise the locale attracts more than 2 million visitors annually.
The metropolis is also renowned for its exquisite natural setting laid out alongside soaring skyscrapers and historical architecture. Right through the center of Glasgow runs the River Clyde, a tranquil waterway that goes on for 106 miles and ends at the Clyde Estuary. It's also home to the River Kelvin, which lines the northern edge of the city and spurs lush waterside greenery that's home to pleasant flora and fauna. Additionally, Glasgow features several nature reserves where guests can stroll down trails that take them past beautiful wetlands and woodlands.
