Welcome to St. Louis
St. Louis is an electrifying hub for the architecture, arts and industry. Heralded as the Gateway to the West, St. Louis is the second-largest city in Missouri behind Kansas City. It is home to roughly 318,000 residents who have a reputation of merging Midwestern sensibility with Southern charm. St. Louis is known as a city of neighborhoods, each with its own style. For example, while Clayton is filled with specialty boutiques and galleries, families flock to Kirkwood, Central West End is home to stunning architecture, Carondelet has one of the largest parks in the city, and museums are abundant in Forest Park. Of course, downtown St. Louis is a thriving center of business, entertainment and culture with a vibrant nightlife.
To make your way throughout the city, take the MetroLink light rail and MetroBus for easy access to the neighborhoods, attractions and shopping districts. The light rail, considered one of the best mass transit systems in the country, begins at Lambert-St. Louis International Airport and makes its way 48 miles through Missouri and Illinois with stops at 37 stations. For more localized transportation, take the MetroBus, which serves the municipalities in St. Louis County and popular spots.
